OUR PURPOSE
Our purpose at Elmont Baptist Church is to Glorify God by making disciples through students and families! Our desire is to teach students God’s Word, show them how to grow in their relationship with the Lord, and challenge them to reach their generation for Christ. We desire to help them know Jesus intimately as their personal savior, and to seek to live like Jesus in their daily walk. We believe having the involvement of parents in the discipleship of their children by spending time together in God’s Word opens the door for students to be passionate about their faith and pursue Jesus beyond their time at home.
LIVE
Every Wednesday night during the school year from 6:30- 8:30 our 6th-12th grade students meet together for worship. We spend time in fellowship, gather for worship through song, study the word together, and review in small groups with adult leaders. Currently, the students are going through the major events of the Bible in chronological order to gain a better understanding of the grand story of scripture.
MORE
MORE is our Sunday morning gathering for students! It meets every Sunday morning at 9:30 in the Life Groups Building, room 4. The goal of MORE is to help students take their faith to the next level by teaching them to answer their hard questions through reading and understanding Scripture! Our heart is to build up a generation of teenagers passionate about the truth of the Word!
STUDENT LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT)
Here at Elmont, our desire is to keep students involved in the Church from the time they are littles in the nursery to adults walking in their faith on their own. Typically, churches lose many of their students to other interests once they can drive. The students can feel like youth group is oriented to the younger people involved, they have too much on their plate to attend church, or simply find other things more interesting. They might intend to come back as an adult but church is no longer a priority. Once these students create a schedule for life that does not include church, it is difficult to get back to being involved. The goal of SLT is get high school students invested in the Church through allowing them space to have ownership of a piece of their ministry. We desire to teach them the importance of the Church, the truth that their involvement in the Church is indespensable, equip them with knowledge of where they are skilled for leadership and service, draw them closer to Christ, and train them to be servant-hearted leaders for life. While we LOVE getting to disciple students here at Elmont we know that true discipleship starts in the home! Our goal is to 1) clearly communicate with parents on what their kids are learning at Elmont so they can continue those conversations at home at 2) equip parents for further discipleship and connection with their kids through parenting resources. Every month we have new resources available for parents. Check out the parenting page here (scroll to see resources):
