Trip Details

Elmont Students are spending their Spring Break on Mission! March 14th-20th we will be on the Gulf Coast, specifically in Lake Charles, Louisiana through Praying Pelican Missions. We will partner with a local church to serve practical needs in their area and challenge students to grow deeper in their own personal walk with the Lord! (More details to come as we work with Praying Pelican)!
How Much Does the Trip Cost? What are my Fundraising Opportunities?
Trip Costs/ Payment Schedule:
The total cost of the trip is $600 per student. $100 is due at time of registration and we will put that towards your missions account. After registration is complete through Elmont and the deposit is paid, you will receive an email from Praying Pelican Missions to create your "Pelican Account". You will make most of the remainder of your payments in that account. The full payment in that account must be made a month out from the trip (2/14) and $50 will need to be paid to Elmont for transportation!

Fundraiser Info:
When you make your "Pelican Account" there will be a button on the side called "fundraising" when you click that you will be able to submit information for Elmont's fundraising page. When your fundraising profile is approved you will receive a unique link that you can send to loved ones, share on social media, etc and they will be able to send money directly towards your student and it will be applied to their account!

What if I still can't afford the payments even after I send it to family and friends?
We never want money to be the reason students miss an opportunity for ministry. As long as we keep an open door for communication about needs we would be happy to work with you!
Where Will They Be Sleeping?
Praying Pelican will secure us a safe host site to sleep and eat meals. That location will be secure, have bathrooms with showers, and provide good, hot meals. We will floor sleep so students will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow or air mattress and sheets, etc.
Can Parents Go? What Adults Will Be There?
Parents, we would LOVE for you to join us. If you are interested in going on the trip email kensey@elmontchurch.com. Our goal is to have a 10-1 student/adult ration for our adult volunteers and Praying Pelican will also provide one of their staff members for every 10 of our students to help the trip go smoothly!
What Will the Schedule Be Like?
The #1 rule in any mission trip is be flexible so the schedule is always subject to change. However, this is likely how the week will go:
Saturday 3/14- Drive into Lake Charles, have dinner and get situated where we are staying.
Sunday 3/15- Attend service at our partner church, go out to lunch, spend the afternoon setting expectations for the week and doing a prayer walk in the community, dinner and devotional time in the evening.
Monday 3/16- Wednesday 3/18- Wake up and have breakfast before getting to our service project by 9am. Serve from 9am-3 or 4pm with a break to eat a sack lunch in the middle (This serving could be physical labor one day like painting a church or doing yard work, or it could be relational like serving at a soup kitchen, this will likely be different day to day.) After serving, students will have a little down time to get cleaned up before dinner and a team debrief with worship/devotional time before bed.
Thursday 3/19- Thursday will be rec day where we go do something fun in the area (details tbd).
Friday 3/20- Clean up and drive home.

How Are You Getting There?
We will rent a 15 passenger van and take that and a few cars depending on the number of people registered. We will meet at Elmont the morning of Saturday 3/14 and it will take us about 6 1/2 hours to get to Lake Charles.
