About Me

My beautiful wife, Valinda, and I have have been married since 1995. We have 4 children and an ever growing number of grandchildren! I graduated with a BBS and MDiv from Hardin-Simmons University and am EBD on a DMin from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Church Growth/Consultation and Evangelism. I am an avid outdoorsman so I love anything that puts me outside. I have also been known to frequent a golf course more than I should!

History at Elmont

When did you start working at Elmont?

I have attended Elmont since 2018 but was asked to come on staff in 2022.

What is your role at Elmont?

Executive / Teaching Pastor.

What is your favorite part of working at Elmont?

The laughter...no doubt about it, the laughter!

What makes Elmont feel like family?

I think my favorite will always be during Baptisms. All of the kids come in from the Children's Building and our Pastor instructs them that the Angels in Heaven throw a party when someone gives their lives to Christ, so we should throw a party as well. When a person comes up from the Baptismal waters the kids go crazy screaming and clapping. Without fail there is a smile on the face of everyone in the house!

Fun Facts

What's one "fun fact" about yourself?

There was a time in my life where I could bench press over 500lbs...it would crush me like a bug today...

What was your first car?

1985 Oldsmobile Omega - Silver with a blood red interior - as you must have guessed, it made me quite the ladies man!!

What is your favorite movie?

The Godfather.

If you could only eat one thing forever, what would it be?

Spaghetti...is there any other option?!

What childhood belief was debunked as you grew up?

That my mom's chili recipe (which I hated) was different than her Sloppy Joe recipe (which I LOVED) - she only told me as an adult...my childhood was built on lies...
